Description

Blue flag with the royal crest and the name of the county inscribed in curve on a yellow shape of a two-headed frigate bird. This governor general's flag is unique for having the name of the country inscribed in this particular shape. There are only few other governors general flags of this pattern that does not include the inscription the the standard yellow ribbon. Fiji comes to mind.

The source of this flag is a page included in Corr 2. of the Album des Pavillons (2000). The Album 1995 Recapitulative edition include only the national flag as above, and a note on existence of the red, blue and white ensign used, with the national flag in canton, according to the British customs.

A photo published on Andrew Fanasia Jr's blog, 16 August 2010, shows the Governor General, Sir Frank Kabui, with national and Governor General's table flags and a full-sized Governor General's flag behind him.

The Album des Pavillons 2023 has already illustrated the flag of Governor General with the Tudor crown, but it hasn’t been used yet. This page of the Government website shows a letter from the Governor General dated on 29 April 2024, with headline of current emblem: https://solomons.gov.sb/notice-for-the-election-of-a-prime-minister/
